The photo I chose is one of my Great aunty and uncle, sitting happily at church on a Sunday morning. They are such lovely people and always bring a smile to my face whenever I see them. This photo shows the amount of love within the couple for each other and Jesus. I think that it really showcases there happy place in each other and their beliefs.

I have chosen this photo showing a great grandfather and his great granddaughter. She thought she might like to go for a wee walk out the driveway to the road, but Poppa was there to keep her safe. That’s what Poppas are for.

I chose to enter this photo as it captures the pure joy on Margaret's (the lady in the photo) face as she plays bowls with her friends on a Saturday afternoon. It shows that no matter your age doing the things that you love can create a joyful and memorable environment for you and the people around you.

I captured this shot of an elderly man sitting in the simplicity and joy of an evening fish. I love that it is an accessible activity he can still achieve on his own.

The reason I chose this photo is that it was the 1st time meeting this lovely gentleman who was our skipper for a work project we were undertaking. He has had a lifetime of being in and on the water,, It turned out that he had grown up around Coromandel and actually knew a lot of the old people that I grew up with as a child forming an instant bond, lots of laughs and stories exchanged over 2 days together.

Here's a photo of Connie, my bride of fifty-six years. She and I went to the Wharf café for a fish and chips lunch on a freezing Saturday. On that day they served mulled wine. I chose it for these reasons:
It is one of her favourite places to sit and eat fish and chips in comfort.
She was born in Denmark, where mulled wine (the Danes call it "gløgg") is a traditional winter tipple. That made the day extra special for her.
I took it with my cheap, basic smartphone, but yet it is one of my favourite photos of her. Her mischievousness twinkles behind that glass of wine, and at seventy-seven years of age she still has the beauty that first captivated me in 1965, when she was eighteen years old.

This photo is of my father (78) and my daughter (11) having lunch during the Whangamata Beach Hop (classic cars).
My father drove over from Te Aroha and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend looking at classic cars. He is the most positive man I've EVER met. He worked as a butcher/meat worker until he was 71 years old!
He is currently looking after my Mum that has dementia.
In the photo you can see how enthusiastic he is! Looks like he's saying something he's excited about to his grandchild.
He is one of the most enthusiastic people I've ever met! He gets excited about (and always has) the most simplest things in life. He is so grateful and I've learnt how to really appreciate everything we have in life from this wonderful man. Love you Dad.

This is my father's younger brother whom we recently celebrated his 70th. He is the first of our male line to reach this age. My father passed 16yrs ago but this man has been there in the same capacity since the day I was born.
The photo depicts his unwaivering love for his grand children that I have for 50 years have had the pleasure of receiving. He is a quiet, humble man who loves wholeheartedly.

This is an image of myself and one of my Great granddaughters . Her name is Ryah Hirawani Renata . I have chosen this spot under the rakau or tree where I've held many weaving wananga over the years involving whanau and some of my many grandchildren . The location is Ngahutoitoi Marae and I've tried to include our maunga to the left Tapuariki and Karangahake . Over the stop bank is the Ohinemuri awa behind us our current urupa a building to the left Te Ahurei and Kohanga Reo . Our new wharekai Te Puna o Te Aroha Tuatoru in front of us not yet opened our wharenui Te Awapu and to the right our whare waka and many PA harakeke . Unfortunately all that ive spoken of are not able to be captured in the 1 image but the focus now is on my great moko and myself amongst our surroundings . Hopefully the legacy and korero left behind will encourage her in her future mahi to become an accomplished weaver should she choose that path as she is an intense listener and asks many questions which I'm happy to answer.

This is my Mum visiting a friends Op shop and while waiting for me to peruse the shelves, sat down on this awesome sofa and knitted a few rows for the community scarf.

I chose this image of my grandfather (Grandy) because I've always admired his ability and passion to create. Ever since I was little, me and my cousins used to hang out in his garage, where we'd watch him weld steel together to create. He even set up an art corner for us with paint and chalk, some of those paintings are still on the walls. My Grandy is 80 now and he still works as an engineer. When I asked him to do this photo he was so happy and went straight out into the garage to find the tool that would emit the most sparks.

Not sure if being early 60's is elderly, but I'm sure my kids think so.

This is my 80 year old uncle John Steele, who is an avid local historian and author. He eats, sleeps, and breathes local history hence one of his special places being the Mercury Bay Museum. I feel this photo is really special. The way the way the light comes into the frame and the composition of the historic photos in the background captures a beautiful moment and celebrates his passion.
Sage. Student. 14 yrs old. Home schooled.
John is the youngest eighty-year-old I know.
His special place is the Colville music club where he goes every week to play music with his band rain, hail or shine.
I chose this photo because it gives you the feeling of the music and shows the focus the band members have when they are playing. You can also see a hint of enjoyment on John's face. I think music is what keeps John young.

I decided to photograph my friend Frances. She has many responsibilities at our church, and her favourite is arranging flowers for the altar. Frances has a great love for nature and uses flowers from her own garden to fill the vases. She loves dedicating her time to the betterment of St. Pascal's Parish. Doing the flower arrangements combines two of her most valued interests and is therefore an activity that makes her happiest.

I have captured the following photo of my Dad (61)… though I do not consider him old, he assures me that he is a lot older than other Dads with kids my age (and my younger siblings). This photo was taken at Waihi Beach on Father’s Day (1/09/24). I was captivated by my Dad’s admiration for the beach and specifically Waihi beach. He remembers taking my siblings and I there when we were younger. He taught us to ride our bikes on that beach, we had our first ice creams on that beach, and we continue to make it a special place.
